Chocolate Tart
A chocolate tart that is luxurious, elegant, rich and easy to make. Sounds too good to be true….. When you read the recipe, you will see how few ingredients are actually needed to create this simple but sophisticated tart. I like to use only dark chocolate to cut through the sweetness of the Oreo cookies and believe me, the tart is not bitter at all. A small piece at the end of your menu, will impress your guests. And the best of all, you can make it a day ahead, so there is really no excuse not to dive into chocolate heaven.
Equipment
- tart pan 36 cm x 12 cm, food processor
Ingredients
- 24 Oreo cookies, whole
- 80 g butter, melted
- 56 g butter
- 340 g dark chocolate, broken into pieces
- 180 ml cream
- 1 tsp instant coffee
- cherries, berries or a dust of cocoa powder (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180 C.
- Pulse the Oreo cookies in the food processor until they finely ground before you add the melted butter.
- Mix the cookies and butter until well combined. Then press them onto the bottom and up the sides of your tart pan.
- Bake the crust for 8-10 minutes in the oven.
- While the crust is cooling completely, you can make the filling.
- Put the chocolate and butter into a heatproofed bowl.
- Melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave (or over a water bath), then add the instant coffee and stir the mixture until it is completely smooth.
- Stir in the cream and pour the smooth chocolate mixture over the crust into the tart pan.
- Chill the tart for at least 6 hours or overnight.
- I like to serve the tart with fresh berries or tiny chocolate balls or a dust of cocoa powder. It is up to you, the tart is delicious by itself.
